Project co-funded by the European Commission in the framework of the 2nd Health Programme
Program for European Good Tissue Practices
General Objectives
  • To develop detailed European Good Tissue Practices for the activities carried out in tissue establishments (TE), contributing to the harmonization of these activities among European TEs in order to ensure a high level of quality and safety of tissue grafts for transplant.
  • To develop a training model for TE personnel based on the GTPs.
  • Development of generic Euro-GTPs, comprising:
    • General TE aspects / activities.
    • Donor selection and evaluation.
    • Multi-tissue donor procurement.
  • Development of specific Euro-GTP guidelines according to tissue type, comprising:
    • Ocular
    • Cardiovascular
    • Musculoskeletal
    • Skin
    • Other tissues
  • Approval of the Euro-GTPs by:
    • Doing a comparative analysis of GTPs in relation to GMPs and TE reality
    • Carrying out a self-assessment of the GTPs with a ‘guideline evaluation tool’
  • Training model based on GTPs developed and pilot training course
